“ICU” was Coco Jones’ first song to top Billboard and radio earlier this year. Now, the Camper-produced track honors the rising singer with her first career nominations at the 66th Grammys Awards.

Honored with five nominations, Jones contends mainly in the R&B, Rap, & Spoken Word Poetry Field, with four R&B nominations.

Jones is up for two nods for “ICU,” including Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song. The latter is awarded to the credited songwriters.

“ICU” reached No. 1 on multiple charts this year, including Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, urban radio, and most recently, R&B Digital Song Sales.

According to Def Jam Recordings, “ICU” also went platinum for exceeding sales of one million equivalent units sold.

“I didn’t know how big it was gonna be,” Camper exclusively told Rated R&B this spring. “It just so happened that it took off the way it did. God has his hands all through it. It’s just saying staying true and making real music. [Coco] was down with that from day one.”

Jones is up for Best Traditional R&B Performance for her contribution to Babyface’s “Simple,” which first appeared on his Grammy-nominated album Girls Night Out. The collaboration later surfaced on Jones’ What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), an extended version of her 2022 project (more on that later).

What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), released two months after the original, is nominated for Best R&B Album. The category also includes Babyface (Girls Night Out); Emily King (Special Occasion); Victoria Monét (JAGUAR II); and Summer Walker (CLEAR 2: Soft Life).

The standard version of What I Didn’t Tell You, released on High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings in November 2022, debuted at No. 16 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart the week of Feb. 4, 2023. It later peaked at No. 6 and spent 35 weeks on the chart.

“What I Didn’t Tell You is all about the stories that happen off camera,” Jones explained. “This project will hopefully share my real-life experiences with my fans and show them that I’m just like them. Sometimes people see me as the characters I play, but these stories are my own script.”

Jones has also been nominated for Best New Artist. She and Victoria Monét are the only R&B-centric artists in this category.

Jones will find out if she can net a statuette when the 66th Grammy Awards airs live on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony also can be streamed live or on-demand on Paramount+.

Jones will be performing at the inaugural Honeyland Festival on Nov. 12 in Sugar Land, Texas, while also keeping busy with other musical endeavors such as “8 Days of Christmas,” her Apple Music exclusive. It’s a remake of Destiny’s Child’s 2001 song from their holiday album with the same title.

Jones is featured on BJ The Chicago Kid’s new album, Gravy, where she appears on the single “Spend The Night.”
