Victoria Monét has achieved a new milestone at urban radio.
Her single “On My Mama,” which samples Texas rapper Chalie Boy’s 2009 hit “I Look Good,” moves from No. 17 to No. 10 on the airplay chart this week. It marks Monét’s first top 10 hit at urban radio.
Elsewhere this week, “On My Mama” is making strides on other radio formats, including rhythmic (No. 26) and R&B (No. 28).
Beyond radio, Monét is making waves on Billboard with her current single. During the week dated Oct. 21, 2023, “On My Mama” hits new peaks and debuts on the following charts:
- Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (No. 9)
- R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (No. 11)
- Rhythmic Airplay (No. 31)
“On My Mama” has become Monét’s first track to reach the top 10 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
It also marks her highest position on Billboard’s Rhythmic chart, surpassing her previous collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly, “A Little More,” which reached No. 38 in June 2015.
Co-produced by D’Mile, Deputy and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, “On My Mama” was released June 16 via RCA Records.
Monét unveiled the fan favorite as the third song from her debut album, JAGUAR II, released this summer. The song has amassed 27 million streams on Spotify. Meanwhile, the official video has been viewed over 10 million times on YouTube.
“‘On My Mama’ is the soundtrack to positive affirmations,” explained Monét. “I wrote it postpartum when I wasn’t feeling my best, but spoke to how I wanted to feel. Singing the lyrics about yourself will change your frequency, and elevate a positive mental state.”
She continued, “The words speak not only to physical features, but to a feeling too because I believe when you feel good you look even better! Give yourself the words you need to hear because it’s true, you look good! There’s no one like you and that’s on ya mama. Enjoy being yourself witcha fine ass!”
Circling back to JAGUAR II, the second and final installment in Monét’s JAGUAR series. Rated R&B reviewed the album, calling the production “refreshingly opulent and textured” and the songwriting “knife-sharp.”‘
JAGUAR II features two previously released tracks: “Party Girls” with Buju Banton and “Smoke” with Lucky Daye, the latter being dropped upon her signing to RCA Records.
Monét’s album JAGUAR II debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, making it her first top 10 album on that chart. She received this news before embarking on a headlining tour that Rated R&B covered in Washington, D.C.
