Before all eyes are glued to ABC’s Queens, Brandy has dropped a new acoustic-based track, “Hear Me,” lifted from the anticipated hip-hop drama.
Under the writing direction of Ruby Amanfu, Brandy spreads her warm, hearty tone across a simple guitar production and allows vulnerability and honesty to be the fiber of this sincere number. She sings to a love interest who she’s wronged and hopes her plea for understanding doesn’t fall on deaf ears.
“I’m not naive to think you’ll wanna hear my story / I know to you it sounds like fiction at its best / Still hope you’ll hear me now / I hope you’ll hear me now,” Brandy sings.
“Hear Me” is the third offering from the upcoming Queens series. Previous tracks include “The Introduction” and “Nasty Girl.” The former featuring castmates Eve, Nature Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez accompanied Brandy’s solo release and samples Nas’ cult classic “Oochie Wally.”
Outside of the show, Brandy has been working hard to grow her resume. She recently collaborated with Tiwa Savage for the song “Somebody’s Son.” In addition, a melanin-packed video arrived earlier this month.
She also contributed vocals to the Diane Warren-penned theme song for The View’s latest season. It’s billed as a joint song with Nicole Scherzinger.
Brandy’s most recent album, b7, was named the best R&B album of 2020 by Rated R&B.
