Joyce Wrice made her debut on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series. The rising singer brought sounds from her most recent EP, Motive, available now. Grammy and Oscar-winning producer D’Mile joined Wrice (bass), as well as Mack Keane (keys, vocals).

As part of the six-song set, Wrice, with her hair slicked back and dressed in a sexy white outfit, performed “Iced Tea” and “Bittersweet Goodbyes.”

Wrice also dived into her short-and-sweet discography, performing cuts from her D’Mile-produced debut album Overgrown, including “Chandler” and “Falling In Love.” Lucky Daye didn’t join her for the latter tune, but she still rocked out.

“I’ve been praying for this for so long,” Wrice wrote on Instagram ahead of the performance.

As mentioned above, Wrice unveiled a new EP called Motive. Her latest record includes six tracks that feature production input from Kaytranada, Keane, Osinachi Nwaner, Kaelin Ellis and Swavy, to name a few.

Speaking on Motive, Wrice says, “In between coming off of my debut album and brainstorming ideas for my sophomore album, I was motivated to create an EP that the world could dance to.”

She continues, “This new project is experimental, fun, carefree, and sexy. After Overgrown, I was inspired to be free-spirited and to let loose and during this process I was consistently asking myself, ‘what’s your motive?’”

Wrice’s Overgrown debut was featured on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list. Ahead of this placement, she was one of Rated R&B’s first Front + Center Artists.

Following the release of Overgrown, Wrice has kept busy. She recorded The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder theme song plus joined Keane and ESTA’s Intersections EP in April.
