Alex Isley and SiR have teamed up for a new song called “Back To Love,” produced by Robert Glasper and his son, Riley Glasper.
Production-wise, this could be a flashback of the lush paths taken on SiR and Isley’s previous works. The two comfort romantic strife and hope to strike a resolution to get back to simply enjoying one another’s company.
“Back To Love” is the second song released from season two of the STARZ original series Run the World. The lead track, “What Love Can Do,” was released on June 30 and features Emily King.
Glasper and Derrick Hodge helmed the season one compilation, released June 2021. Isley appeared on the soundtrack, along with Kenneth Whalum, Amber Navran of Moonchild and lightchild.
Last month, Isley joined forces with her father, Ernie Isley, for their first-ever collaboration, “Brown Eyed Girl.” Before that, she appeared on podcaster Rory’s debut album, I Thought It’d Be Different.
Isley’s last album, Marigold, was released last March. The album, recorded in collaboration with producer Jack Dine, included the focus track “Still Wonder” featuring Glasper.
Marigold was supported with a headlining summer tour. Afterward, the album was named one of Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022.
SiR recently collaborated with rapper D Smoke on “Work Hard Play Hard.” It marked his second musical release this year following his appearance on the Creed III soundtrack.
SiR released three singles in 2022: “Nothing Even Matters,” “Life Is Good,” featuring Scribz Riley, and “Satisfaction.”
The former track reached No. 9 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. It notched SiR’s first top 10 hit on the airplay chart.
His upcoming third album, Heavy, is anticipated to feature all three songs mentioned. The album will be released on Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records. As of now, there is no confirmed release date.
“It’s going to be enlightening and tell a side of my life that people haven’t heard yet. So many things have changed with me. It’s going to be nice to reintroduce myself to the world and my fans,” SiR previously told Rated R&B of his then-untitled album.
