Mary J. Blige is back. The R&B legend has returned with a new song, “Still Believe In Love,” featuring her artist and emerging rapper, Vado. It was co-produced by DJ Cassidy and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman.
Beaming in energy and pure, optimistic joy, Blige sings about being selective in finding her next companion.
Despite a previous failed romance, she remains open to new love, encouraging those who have gone through heartbreak to do the same.
“Just because you see me alone, and I’m all on my own / It don’t mean a thing / Just know I can find me somebody so easily,” Blige boastfully sings. “I can’t lower my standards / I demand a guy / To treat me like the queen that I be.”
Vado’s flow and lyrical style are undeniably reminiscent of the Notorious B.I.G. “To see you happy, be a blessing / Guessing no more stressing / Yes, me and you was destined,” he rhymes.

At R&B radio this week, “Still Believe in Love” was the song with the most adds: 30. It is also No. 34 on the format this week.
Blige first previewed “Still Believe In Love” in July on DJ Funkmaster Flex’s Thursday night show.
In September, she performed the track for the first time with Vado at the Hip Hop Forever concert, powered by WBLS and Hot 97.
“Still Believe In Love” is Blige’s first proper single since her Anderson Paak-assisted single “Here With Me.”
The Grammy-nominated song reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, marking her 25th top 10 hit on the chart.
It was the second official single from Blige’s 15th studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous, following the self-loving title track.
The latter track, co-produced by D’Mile and H.E.R., topped the Adult R&B and R&B radio charts.
It also received several nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best Traditional R&B Performance.
Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe), the extended edition of the album, was nominated for Album of the Year and Best R&B Album.
At the end of 2022, Good Morning Gorgeous was ranked No. 6 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums list.
“Now, 30 years into her music tenure, a new Mary J. Blige has awakened on Good Morning Gorgeous, triumphantly coming out of the ashes after many years of complicated exes,” Rated R&B’s Antwane Folk wrote.
Blige was recently featured on Diddy’s album, The Love Album: Off The Grid. She also released a special 10th-anniversary edition of her 2013 holiday album, A Mary Christmas.
On Nov. 12, Blige is set to headline the inaugural Honeyland Festival at Crown Festival Park in Sugar Land, Texas.
