Mary J. Blige’s chart domination is still going strong. Her Vado-assisted single “Still Believe In Love” is No. 1 for a third week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
The Mtume-sampled song now shares the term with Blige’s 2017 track “U + Me (Love Lesson)” for spending three weeks atop this chart. Five out of her eight leaders have held the top position for more weeks than the two songs mentioned.
“Still Believe In Love” earned Blige her eighth No. 1 hit, which placed her third among women with the most chart-topping hits. She follows behind Alicia Keys (14) and Toni Braxton (11).
“Still Believe In Love” reached the top spot during the week of Dec. 30, 2023.
DJ Cassidy and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman-produced song quickly rose to No. 1, becoming Blige’s second fastest after 2016’s “Thick of It,” which took four weeks to reach the top spot.
Before Blige’s eighth chart-topper, Blige previously reached the top of the summit in 2022 with “Good Morning Gorgeous.” The confident anthem held the top position for four consecutive weeks.
“Good Morning Gorgeous” recently received a gold certification from the RIAA for selling over 500,000 equivalent units, marking her first certification as a lead act in over a decade.
Circling back to “Still Believe In Love,” the song is also No. 1 at R&B radio for another week.
Blige released her standalone track on Oct. 27, 2023, via her Beautiful Life Music imprint. According to the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, the song will not be a part of a future project.
Good Morning Gorgeous, her latest album, was released in February 2022, two days before her Emmy-winning co-headlining performance at Super Bowl LVI. The deluxe version of her 15th album arrived later that spring.
The latter version of the album includes features from Usher, Ne-Yo, Anderson .Paak, Remy Ma, DJ Khaled, Fivio Foreign and more. It also includes other singles such as “Amazing” and “Here With Me.”
Good Morning Gorgeous ranked No. 6 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022 list before the year ended, amidst its accolades and nominations.
In recent news, Blige contributed a new song to The Color Purple soundtrack and produced WanMor‘s remake of “Please Don’t Go.”
Additionally, her Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit will be held in New York City from May 10-12.
