Muni Long is aiming for another hit. The Grammy winner’s new single, “Ruined Me,” has appeared on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week.
The heartrending tune, produced by Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and Kevin Theodore, debuts at No. 30 on the airplay chart, which is led by Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay for the third straight week.
“Ruined Me” is Long’s fifth entry on the Adult R&B Airplay chart and the second one to chart this year.
Long’s previous 2024 single, “Make Me Forget,” entered in June and shot to the No. 1 position in the Aug. 17 issue. The D’Angelo-sampling ballad spent one week at the top, marking her first chart-topper on the airplay chart.
Bringing attention back to “Ruined Me,” the song is gaining traction on R&B radio, charged by Mediabase. It was the most added song during the week of Aug. 21 and is currently at No. 23 on the Top 50 list, with over 409 spins and reaching an audience of 1.3 million.
“Ruined Me” was released on July 26 as the third single from Long’s recently released sophomore album, Revenge. The song was previewed during Long’s special guest appearance on Chris Brown’s 11:11 Tour, which ended on Aug. 7.
Released on Aug. 30, Revenge is Long’s brand new album. The 14-track set includes the previously released singles “Make Me Forget” and “Made For Me.”
The latter track, which was issued as the lead single in September 2023, has achieved viral success, reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, as well as on urban and rhythmic radio, and has been certified platinum for sales exceeding one million equivalent units.
“I’m trying to solidify myself as an R&B giant, and I’m confident enough to say it because I know we made some quality music,” Long said of Revenge. “When you hear Revenge, I want you to feel like I did when I heard Maxwell’s first album. I hope my music can be a little bit of medicine. I promise you’ll feel better.”
Revenge features an appearance from the fast-rising rapper GloRilla, who is a guest on “Leave My Baby Tonight.”
On enlisting GloRilla for the track, Long exclusively told Rated R&B, “I love Glo; I think she’s super funny, and her punchlines make me laugh. Just thinking of female artists on the rise that I can collaborate with, I really love her perspective. She’s feminine but also real. She raps about more than sex and her body. She was a natural fit for me.”
“When I heard her verse, I was blown away because it was super catchy, but she was also singing. Since I got the record a year ago, I’ve been crossing my fingers that she wouldn’t give anybody a record singing, and she hasn’t. I’m the first,” Long added.
