Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Victoria Monét has received an early gift from Billboard.
“SOS (Sex on Sight),” a sultry collaboration with R&B icon Usher, rises from No. 13 to No. 10. The steamy tune gives Monét her second top 10 on this airplay chart and Usher’s 16th overall.
More significantly, “SOS” marks Monét’s first top 10 appearance since her breakout hit, “On My Mama,” which spent three weeks at No. 1 in March 2024.
Monét first appeared on this chart in 2021 with “Coastin’,” which sampled Keni Burke. The funky track reached No. 18 and spent a total of 22 weeks on the chart.
Usher’s last hit in the top 10 was “Good Good,” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage, which topped the charts for six non-consecutive weeks and stayed in the top 10 for 51 weeks. Before that, he had a hit with “Risk It All,” a duet with H.E.R. that topped the chart for two weeks.
Elsewhere this week on Billboard, “SOS” rises to No. 37 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, becoming Monét’s third entry. Her smash “On My Mama” previously topped the chart for two weeks in December 2023.
More on “SOS”: The Camper-produced track debuted at No. 21 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart for the week of Sept. 28. Two weeks earlier, it peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart.
“SOS” was released on August 27 as the lead single from Monét’s expanded edition of Jaguar II, the debut album she released a year earlier.
Monet talked about her collaboration with Usher, explaining that “SOS (Sex On Sight)’ is about desire. It’s about the urgency you feel when you need some love, physical touch and quality attention!”
She continued, “Sometimes that desire can feel as urgent as being rescued from a natural disaster, or in this case, rescued from your own sensual urges. Just like a storm, SOS summons and forewarns a lover of the rainfall that is to come and welcomes the beautiful relief from that desire. It feels romantic, playful, sultry and direct. Based in fantasy and the warmest tones of R&B. It feels timeless and we hope you enjoy the escape!”
Monét released Jaguar II: Deluxe on Oct. 4 through Lovett Music/RCA Records. This updated version includes all 11 tracks from the standard edition and adds 10 new songs, featuring collaborations with Thundercat and Bryson Tiller.
In other music headlines, Monét has fans celebrating around the Christmas tree with A Jaguar II Christmas: The Orchestral Arrangements, the second installment of her festive instrumental project launched in 2020.
Music aside, Monét is set to release her debut children’s book, Everywhere You Are, in summer 2025.
