Coco Jones is off to a great start in 2025. Her single “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” leads Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay for a fifth consecutive week on the chart dated Jan. 11.
The soulful track, which samples Lenny Williams‘ “‘Cause I Love You,” is Jones’ first No. 1 on the airplay chart. It first reached the top of the summit on the chart dated Dec. 14, 2024, unseating Muni Long‘s “Ruined Me” after a two-week lead.
Before “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” Jones’ platinum-selling, Grammy-winning hit “ICU” was her highest-charting single on the Adult R&B Airplay with a No. 2 peak. It’s worth noting “ICU” spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. Therefore, “Here We Go” is now her longest-running No. 1 hit on Billboard.
“Here We Go” is nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards, which takes place Sunday, Feb. 2.
Additionally, the Cardiak and Wu10-produced track is up for Outstanding Soul/R&B Song at the 56th NAACP Image Awards, which airs Saturday, Feb. 22. The singer and actress is also nominated for Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Hilary Banks in Peacock’s Bel Air.
Circling back to “Here We Go (Uh Oh),” it was released May 3, 2024, via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings, as the lead single from Jones’ hotly anticipated debut album. It debuted and peaked at No. 8 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
In an interview with Rated R&B, Jones shared how “Here We Go” set the tone of her first full-length album. “I feel like the tone is a cohesiveness that I learned from my audience what was next. The EP [What I Didn’t Tell You] was really, ‘What do y’all want from me? What do you like from me?'” Jones said.
She added, “The themes I’ve learned from my fans of what they love from me is the tone that I’m trying to keep throughout the whole album. These are songs where you still got to put that vocal work in. These are concepts that you feel are super vulnerable.”
Since releasing “Here We Go,” Jones has shared the Leon Thomas-penned “Sweep It Up” and “Most Beautiful Design” featuring London on da Track and Future.
Last fall, Jones was honored at the 16th annual ASCAP Women Behind The Music ceremony.
She wrapped up 2024 with her first holiday EP, Coco By the Fireplace, which featured five original songs.
