Muni Long has scored yet another hit. Her latest single, “Superpowers,” moves from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week, ending Chris Brown‘s two-week stay with “Residuals.”
Long now has three No. 1s out of six top 10 hits on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. All three chart-toppers were scored within the last eight months, starting with “Make Me Forget,” which spent one week at No. 1 in August 2024. In November, “Ruined Me” climbed to the top of the summit, where it led for two weeks.
It’s worth noting that all three of Long’s No. 1s appear on her sophomore album, Revenge. She is now the first female R&B artist to achieve three No. 1s from the same album on the Adult R&B Airplay chart since Alicia Keys, who earned three No. 1s from 2003’s The Diary of Alicia Keys. (Keys scored her No. 1s throughout 2004.)
Toni Braxton leads among women, with four No. 1s from her 1993 self-titled debut album. It’s also worth pointing out Tank tied Braxton in 2023 when he achieved four chart-toppers from his final album, R&B Money. He became the first male R&B soloist to achieve this feat.

Here’s an overview of R&B artists with at least three No. 1s from the same album on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart:
- Toni Braxton, four No. 1s from Toni Braxton: “Breathe Again,” “Seven Whole Days,” “You Mean The World To Me” and “Another Sad Love Song”
- Tank, four No. 1s from R&B Money: “Can’t Let It Show,” “I Deserve,” “Slow” featuring J. Valentine and “See Through Love” featuring Chris Brown
- Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak), four No. 1s from An Evening With Silk Sonic*: “Leave The Door Open,” “Smokin’ Out The Window,” “After Last Night” with Thundercat and Bootsy Collins and “Love’s Train”
- Alicia Keys, three No. 1s from The Diary of Alicia Keys: “You Don’t Know My Name,” “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Diary”
- Muni Long, three No. 1s from Revenge: “Make Me Forget,” “Ruined Me” and “Superpowers”
It’s worth noting that Silk Sonic scored three No. 1s from the original version of their lone album, An Evening With Silk Sonic. However, their cover of Con Funk Shun’s “Love’s Train” was later added to the digital and vinyl editions, which technically gives them four No. 1s.
Circling back to “Superpowers,” the Tricky Stewart-produced ballad debuted on the Adult R&B Airplay chart in late January at No. 28. By mid-March, the song, which interpolates Brian McKnight’s “The Only One For Me,” reached the top 10 region.
Speaking on the meaning behind “Superpowers,” Long told The Breakfast Club, “My superpower is detachment, like it really is. Now, in reference to the song, what I’m talking about is in every aspect of my life I’m super successful, so why not here in this relationship? That doesn’t just mean romantically; it could be family, you know, but why doesn’t my power work in this area? I really want this.”
In late March, Long was honored at Billboard’s Women in Music 2025 event with the Rising Star Award. Before accepting the prestigious award, she performed “Superpowers.”
“As I stand here, I know this moment is not just about me. It’s about the shoulders. I stand on the culture that shaped me and the people who continue to push the boundaries of what is possible,” Long said during her acceptance speech.
