Longtime collaborators Tiara Thomas and H.E.R. have joined forces for a new song, “Move,” out now via ONErpm.

The two Oscar and Grammy winners co-wrote the track, with production by Non Native and Luis Bordeaux.

“Move” is a downtempo anthem laden with encouraging lyrics about setting boundaries and walking away from people and spaces that no longer serve you.

“I gotta watch how I move / Know they be switching up crews and views / So I gotta watch who I choose,” Thomas sings. H.E.R. chimes in with, “I gotta watch how I move with it / I don’t want nothing to do with it / I’m just a moody recluse with it.”

“‘Move’ comes from a place of reclaiming my power and peace,” explains Thomas. “It’s about not being a hostage to people or circumstances, but rather accepting what is and moving accordingly. Sometimes you have to remind yourself to keep going, to shake off what no longer serves you, and step into something greater.”

“Move” is Thomas’ third single of the year, following “Kiss Me” and “A Hug.” All three tracks could appear on a new project from Thomas, although she has yet to officially announce anything.

As indicated above, Thomas and H.E.R. are no strangers to collaborating. In fact, their musical history traces back to H.E.R.’s breakout debut EP, H.E.R., Vol. 1, released in 2016. Thomas co-wrote “Avenue” alongside H.E.R. and the song’s producer, Lophiile.

Since then, H.E.R. and Thomas have created multiple hits together, including “Slide,” “Damage,” “Intimidated” and “Fight For You,” which won a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Song and an Oscar for Best Original Song.

While it’s been four years since H.E.R. released her debut album, Back of My Mind (2021), the singer, born Gabi Wilson, has collaborated with a few artists, including Mary J. Blige (“Good Morning Gorgeous Remix“), Chris Brown (“Closure”), NxWorries (“Where I Go“), Usher (“Risk It All“) and others.

In 2023, H.E.R. released “The Journey,” written by Diane Warren.
