Khalid can check NBC’s Saturday Night Live off his pre-sophomore album checklist.
In his debut SNL performance, the soothing crooner called on R&B newbies VanJess and Jae Stephens for his two-song set. Khalid kicked things off with “Talk,” his latest Free Spirit track. Dressed in a lava-styled shirt and black pants, the smooth-voice singer stirred up great conversation with his Disclosure-produced cut.
Changed into a blue two-piece linen fit, Khalid performed “Better” from his 2018 Suncity EP. A blue fluorescent backdrop offered some assistance for the gloomy tune. The song became his first solo top 10 single on pop radio in February.
Days before taking over SNL, Khalid released “My Bad” as the second single from his Free Spirit album. Slated to drop on April 5, the project will follow-up his Grammy-nominated debut American Teen.
On April 3, Khalid will premiere his companion film for Free Spirit around the world for one-night only. For ticket information and other exclusive updates, fans can visit freespiritthemovie.net.
