Ari Lennox keeps up her number-one ways as “Pressure” ascends from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart during the week of Feb. 5. It’s a career first for the Washington, D.C. native on this chart as both a solo and featured artist.
Lennox made her first Adult R&B appearance in April 2019 with the title track of her debut album Shea Butter Baby, which peaked at No. 11.
Her other entry, “Make Me Feel,” with Skip Marley and Rick Ross, reached No. 14 in December 2020.
Introduced as the first single to her forthcoming sophomore album, “Pressure,” produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, Elite, and Jermaine Dupri, recently earned top acclaim at R&B radio.
A short while before these chart achievements, Lennox shared insight on album two, specifically on the potential tracklist length and its timeline.
She felt she had enough songs to turn them into the appropriate label heads and teased the idea of going back in the studio to record more material.
Lennox uploaded a snippet of a track titled “Mean Mug” that has since been deleted.
Between chart-topping success and a 2022 NAACP Image Awards nomination, Lennox has kept busy recording features for artists like Ant Clemons, Khalid and Summer Walker.
