Charlie Wilson has teamed up with Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and Johnny Gill for his new single “No Stoppin’ Us.”
Part of McFadden & Whitehead’s 1979 classic “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” resurfaces in new lines of this laid-back groove, where these four R&B gents use their distinctive vocal styles to flaunt their romantic personalities.
It makes no sense how good they all sound together, but having Babyface behind the boards as one of the producers, in addition to Wilson himself, can make a difference.

“No Stoppin’ Us” follows Wilson’s last single, “All of My Love,” which featured Smokey Robinson. That song peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Wilson preceded his Robinson-guested track with two number one hits: “One I Got” and “Forever Valentine.” The latter had songwriting input from Bruno Mars.
In between his last couple of releases, Wilson starred on Jam & Lewis’ debut album in July 2021.
Most notably, Wilson is performing across the nation on New Edition’s Culture Tour alongside Jodeci. In addition, he’ll headline night two of the Cincinnati Music Festival in July.
Speaking of Jodeci, Hailey, one of the founder members, issued his comeback music in recent years. The latest is “Jesus Saves,” which has an accompanying video.
Babyface, also one of the collaborators on Jam & Lewis’ album last summer, will soon head on his co-headlining Full Circle Tour with Kem. It starts on March 30 in Petersburg, Virginia.
In April 2021, Babyface put out his demo of The Whispers’ 1987 classic “Rock Steady” under the name Lil’ Bayface.
As for Gill, in 2020, he joined forces with New Edition bandmate Ralph Tresvant for the song “All Mine.”
Before that, Gill released his Game Changer II album. The sequel to his 2014 album featured the hit single “Soul of a Woman” and “Perfect.”
