August Alsina has collected his first RIAA of 2023. His 2014 track “Porn Star” has been certified gold by the RIAA after exceeding sales of more than 500,000 equivalent units.
The steamy song, co-produced by DJ Spinz and The Exclusives, marks Alsina’s first song release as a lead artist to gain a certification since April 2021 when five songs from his debut album Testimony were awarded.
“No Love” and “I Luv This Shit” featuring Trinidad James were among the best-selling tracks of the batch, advancing to 2x multi-platinum status with over two million equivalent units sold.
Alsina’s 2014 album Testimony was crowned platinum in September 2021, making it his first album to achieve that recognition.
Shifting back to “Porn Star,” it’s Alsina’s seventh certified song from Testimony.
Here are the other songs certified from the album:
- “Make It Home” featuring Jeezy, gold (500,000 copies sold)
- “Kissin On My Tattoos,” gold (500,000 copies sold)
- “Numb” featuring B.o.B and Yo Gotti, gold (500,000 copies sold)
- “Ghetto,” featuring Yo Gotti, gold (500,000 copies sold)
Earlier this month, Alsina returned with his first song of the year, “Lied To You.” The song, co-produced by Romano, Cesar and The Exclusives, came with an accompanying video.

“Lied To You” arrived less than a year after “Shake The World,” a tell-all song that addressed rumors, including his alleged entanglement with acclaimed actress and mogul Jade Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife.
Alsina’s last album, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy, was released in June 2020.
“The goal of this project is to expose myself through the art and to help others reveal their true selves,” Alsina said of the album.
He added, “Go back into the past, bring it into the present and positively impact our future. I want to show the community that we’ve all had to overcome some type of obstacle. Some greater than others, but pain is pain… and pain and its threshold is subjective and different from each individual.”
