Chris Brown’s reign just won’t let up. His current focus track, “Under the Influence,” has claimed the No. 1 spot at urban radio this week.

The KDDO-produced track is Brown’s first chart-topper on the radio format since 2020’s “Go Crazy” with Young Thug.

“Under the Influence” is the third single from Brown’s 2019 album, Indigo, to ascend to the No. 1 spot on the urban radio chart, following “No Guidance” featuring Drake and “Heat” with Gunna.

Like the Drake and Gunna collaborations, Brown’s “Under the Influence” was also a force at rhythmic radio, reaching No. 1 in November 2022. It scored Brown his 13th chart-topper on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart, tying him with Usher and Bruno Mars for the third most No. 1s on the list.

“Under the Influence,” lifted from Brown’s Indigo (Extended) saw a resurgence last summer on TikTok. During its initial surge, the bedroom banger debuted at No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in September 2022. It peaked at No. 12 the week of Jan. 21.

A month after its Hot 100 debut, the sleeper hit was certified platinum by the RIAA for surpassing U.S. sales of one million equivalent units.

On Spotify, “Under the Influence” is among Brown’s trending songs with more than 700 million streams at the time of publication.

Brown is currently on a headlining U.K./Europe tour named after the song “Under the Influence.” His sold-out shows support the hit single, as well as his album Breezy (Deluxe) and its standard edition.

Breezy (Deluxe) was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 65th Grammy Awards.

The standard version of Brown’s tenth studio album was released in June 2022. It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.

Brown’s Breezy era has been one of incredible success. He recently won two 2023 NAACP Image Awards, Outstanding Male Artist and Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary) for “Call Me Every Day” featuring Wizkid.

The Wizkid collaboration earned Brown his first RIAA award release from Breezy. It’s certified gold, with over 500,000 equivalent units sold.

In other Brown-related news, he joined Chlöe’s latest single, “How Does It Feel.” The Hitmaka and Cardiak-produced track, which appears on her debut album In Pieces, samples Dionne Warwick.

On May 6, the day after his birthday, Brown will perform at the 2023 Lovers & Friends Festival presented by Usher. The star-studded lineup also includes Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Missy Elliott, Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller and more.
