Music runs through Alex Isley‘s blood; it’s practically in her DNA.
Daughter of Ernie Isley from the renowned band The Isley Brothers, it makes sense to follow her family’s footsteps. She released “Gone” with her latest collaborator, producer Jack Dine (Mac Ayers, Braxton Cook).
Isley’s soft and soothing soprano glides on the mellow and textured production. During the last minute, Isley’s vocals track slows down along with the track, letting her ad libs take lead.
Wondering when her aloof lover will return, she sings on the pre-hook, “Make it make sense / Carefree is cool but not at my expense / Tell me what matters cause I don’t know where you’ve been / No lovers, just a real fair-weather friend / Tell me how long until you’re gone again.”
She released her joint EP Wilton with Jack Dine last November.
