Last night, singers John Legend and Jordin Sparks performed a special tribute to the late Whitney Houston last night at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. There were many tears shed as Legend performed Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” and as Sparks performed Houston’s critically acclaimed “I Will Always Love You.”
At the end of the performance, Billboard presented Whitney Houston with a Billboard Millennium Award. Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, graciously accepted the award on Houston’s behalf.
“I just really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all, not just from when it was good, but when it was bad, to just everything,” said Bobbi Kristina. “Thank you so much for showing that much love ’cause she deserved it. I’m just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman’s life. There will never be another one, ever.”
On February 11, 2012 Houston was found dead in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Houston will star in the upcoming feature film “Sparkle” set to release in August.
R.I.P. Whitney Houston, we will always love you.
