Brent Faiyaz wants to live it up until his last day. The Maryland native encourages those in the world around him to do the same on his latest track “Dead Man Walking.”
In an eerie combination of subtle yet haunting vocals and a menacing backdrop, Faiyaz explores his life in the fast lane. There are bouts of spontaneity in his lyrical content, like when he hints at irresponsibly dropping stacks of cash on fleeting occasions. He also doesn’t want to have anyone in his midst that can’t stay as wide-eyed as him during his nocturnal binges of partying and intoxication.
“I dropped thirty on this room, we ain’t gon sleep for shit / If I catch you nodding off, then it’s gon’ be some shit / But you can do what you wanna, live how you wanna / Spend what you wanna, be who you wanna be,” Faiyaz croons.
“Dead Man Walking” is the first solo track from Faiyaz this year. In February, he released the EP Fuck The World. He followed up with a ChopNotSlop remix edition of the project.
Earlier in September, Faiyaz bagged his first solo gold-certified single for “Trust.” The song is lifted from his EP Lost.
