Savannah Ré has shared some more heat, releasing the new song “About U,” produced by Jack Rochon and YogiTheProducer.
Over the mellow and woozy production, the Toronto native sings about the frustration of an undefined relationship that she knows can work if the other party could only stop complicating things. “I hate to admit / When you’re not next to me, I start / Overthinking what this shit could be for us,” she sings.
A few lines later, she sings, “When it comes to you, I can’t fake it / Everything you do it makes me want you more / But you make it hard.”
Ré accompanies “About U” with an enchanting music video directed by Alex P. Smith.
“About U” is the third song released from Ré this year, following the Dylan Sinclair-assisted “Last One” and “Fiji.” All three tracks could appear on her teased EP that is forthcoming. “This EP is very different than how you’ve heard me before, and I’m nervous but SO ready to share. LET’S GOOOOO,” wrote Ré on Instagram.
Sinclair, who worked on Ré’s first-ever collaboration, “Last One,” spoke on her work ethic while also discussing fellow Canadian singer Emanuel. “Savannah’s very talented. She wants to grow and push music to another level. I respect [and] appreciate that,” Sinclair told Rated R&B’s Antwane Folk.
“Seeing the way they work, [from] watching how Emanuel freestyles so well and how Savannah tries different pockets and cadences and takes her songwriting very seriously, it’s inspiring.”
In June 2021, Ré released the song “24 Hrs,” which marked her first piece of new music since the 2020 EP Opia. She broke down every song from her debut EP with Rated R&B.
